Laguna Esmeralda ( Emerald Lagoon) is located at the "Tierra Mayor" Valley, at the base of the "Ojo de Albino" Glacier, between Mount Bonete and the Toribio Range. Its waters are emerald green, in marked contrast with the reddish hues of its surrounding peatbogs. The name is given after the color of the water from the thaw.

Sus aguas son verde esmeralda, en marcado contraste con los tonos rojizos de las turberas que las rodean. El nombre se da por el color del agua del deshielo.
